Health and Safety
The health and safety of our students is the top priority for Texas State University. Our office continues to monitor the health and safety levels of other countries. Students are strongly advised to stay informed by visiting the Department of State website, the Centers for Disease Control website and by downloading the On Call International app to receive travel alerts in your area.
Students are also encouraged to be attentive to the safety recommendations from your local program provider and authorities. If you experience any of the symptoms of the coronavirus which include fever, cough, tightness of the chest, and difficulty breathing, you should seek medical advice by contacting On Call international, which is available 24/7.
All updates from Texas State will go out to students via email. We remind students about the importance of keeping their cell phones and data on at all times in order to receive these notifications.

Travel Advisories
The safety of our students is the top priority for Texas State University. Approved locations for Education Abroad programs must have a travel advisory level 1 or level 2 issued by the U.S. Department of State.
Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)
If a student is a U.S. citizen, they can register their travel plans with the U.S. Department of State's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). STEP enrolls a traveler's itinerary with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate, sends travelers health an security updates for the countries they are traveling to, as well as helps friends and family to contact travelers in case of an emergency.
Education Abroad Travel Alert Policy
Texas State University monitors information relevant to the safety of its Education Abroad students, faculty, and staff as their safety and security is of the utmost importance. In evaluating the safety of travel abroad on university-sponsored Education Abroad programs, Texas State gives primary consideration to Travel Advisories and Alerts issued by the U.S. Department of State and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
