Incoming International Exchange Graduate
Nomination
Before you can start your Incoming International Exchange Application (Graduate), please meet with the exchange program coordinator at your home institution and request submission of the Nomination Form.
- Nomination deadline for Fall Semester (August - December): March 1st
- Nomination deadline for Spring Semester (January - May): September 15th
The Texas State Exchange Coordinator will review the candidates and confirm acceptance within a one week time period.
Pre-acceptance steps
Please note that pre-acceptance steps (two applications and supported documents) need to be completed by the following deadlines:
Fall Semester (August - December): March 31st
Spring Semester (January - May): October 1st

1. Incoming International Exchange Application via Education Abroad
After the Texas State Exchange Program Coordinator accepts the nominations, international exchange students need to complete the Online Incoming International Exchange Student Application.
Students will be required to upload the following documents to complete their application:
- A copy of their passport
- A current or most recent copy of their transcript (unofficial or official)
- Proof of language proficiency that can be demonstrated by one of the following:
- TOEFL iBT – 78 (with minimum scores of 19 on each subsection and 18 or higher on writing section)
- TOEFL PBT – 550
- Cambridge IELTS – 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 score in all sections)
- Letter of Evaluation from your institution certifying the university level English proficiency of the candidates

2. Application Form through the Graduate College
Incoming International Exchange Graduate students must also apply directly through The Graduate College. Students must respect the standard application deadline available on the Graduate College webpage to submit the application and other application requirements.

3. Visiting Student Form
International Graduate Exchange students must submit their Visiting Student Form to the Graduate College. The documents must be on file by the standard deadline available on the Graduate College webpage.
Visiting Student Form must be completed each semester of study and is required for:
- approval to take the course from your primary institution, or the institution granting your degree
- approval from the graduate advisor or department chair in the program/department offering the course at Texas State

4. English Language Proficiency
Students are required to submit English language proficiency exam scores (TOEFL/IELTS only) meeting the requirements for regular admission or, in lieu of official TOEFL or IELTS scores.

1. I-20 Request
After being accepted to Texas State University, you need to request an I-20 Form. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR SIGNED I-20 WITH YOU THROUGH CUSTOMS AND AT IMMIGRATION CHECK-IN.
You will need to request an I-20 via the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) website.

2. Texas State Net ID
After being accepted to Texas State University, you will receive an email with an assigned NetID. Your Texas State NetID is a number and letter combination and it is also a prefix of your Texas State e-mail address. See the examples below.
- NetID (username): zz1234
- E-mail address: zz1234@txstate.edu
- Create or reactivate your Net ID: with your NetID you will be able to check your Texas State E-mail (BobcatMail) and log into the Texas State Self-Service (CatsWeb) where you will have access to a variety of online services, such as checking holds on your account, viewing final grades, class registration, etc.

3. Health Information Questionnaire via EA Online Incoming International Exchange Student Application
The purpose of this form is to help Texas State to be of maximum assistance during your education abroad experience. Mild physical or psychological disorders can become exacerbated with the stresses of life while studying abroad. It is important that the Exchange Program Coordinator is aware of any medical or emotional problems you have experienced. The information provided will remain confidential and will be shared with program staff, faculty, or appropriate professionals only if necessary to your well-being. Texas State may not be able to accommodate all individual needs or circumstances. This information does not affect your admission into the program.

4. Immunizations (Bacteria Meningitis Vaccination)
Texas State requires Bacteria Meningitis Vaccination for all students under the age of 22.
Please click here for more detailed information regarding immunization. In order to meet this requirement, we strongly recommend to check your immunization records. If you have not received this vaccine, be sure to get this vaccine immediately after being accepted into Texas Sate - no later than one month prior to arrival - so you will not have difficulty registering for classes.
You need to submit your proof of vaccination to Magnus Health SMR. Acceptable evidence of vaccination may be found on the Undergraduate Admissions website.

5. Registration for Classes
To register for courses, please follow the next steps:
- Go to CatsWeb.
- Click on My Registration and Class Schedule.
- Enter your NetID and password.
- Select: Student - Registration - Registration/Schedule Changes
- You can then enter your course # or CRN number
Attention!
Please keep in mind that some classes fill up fast and prerequisites may apply. Texas State cannot guarantee that you will be able to register for the courses that you wish to take. We strongly recommend you consider alternate courses as needed.
Some departments/programs do not permit exchange students to take their courses, while others will evaluate course availability before approving exchange students.
Attention: Please remember to register for only face-to-face courses on the San Marcos campus. Our office will not cover additional fees associated with online or hybrid courses.

6. Health Insurance Plan
All international students on F-1 and J-1 visas are required by university policy to have health insurance coverage while studying at Texas State University. The international student health insurance premium will be billed to an F-1 and J-1 international student's university account during the time of registration for classes.

7. Flight Itinerary via EA Online Incoming International Exchange Student Application
Once you have purchased your airline tickets, please enter your flight information to your Online Incoming International Exchange Student Application.
